IBS treatment to improve IBS symptoms
Change your life in just 3 sessions…
The low FODMAP diet is an effective IBS treatment to improve IBS symptoms and is recommended by the NHS. Making some temporary dietary changes and identifying trigger foods improves symptoms in over 75% of IBS sufferers.
“After being diagnosed with IBS, I tried the low FODMAP diet on my own, but frankly was getting nowhere. I met Debra and with her knowledge and expertise, the change in my symptoms was remarkable.” LH
It’s a tricky diet to follow alone, but that’s where I come in. My vast experience as an IBS dietitian will guide you through the process and help you find IBS relief.
The process is simple: I offer a free initial call to ensure that I can help you. Usually, only 3 sessions are needed. Following the first session, most find improvement in a few days or weeks.
“My symptoms completely disappeared as soon as I started the low FODMAP plan. I was very strict to adhere to the plan and it has completed changed my life.” DA
So, you could change your life in just 3 sessions!

What are FODMAPs?
FODMAP is an acronym for Fermentable Oligo-saccharides, Di-saccharides, Mono-saccharides And Polyols. It’s not catchy, which is why we call them FODMAPs!
Put simply, they are carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed in the small intestine and are fermented by bacteria in the large intestine producing excess gas and water.
Research has shown that foods high in FODMAPs contribute to the symptoms experienced by many IBS sufferers. Common IBS symptoms are: lower abdominal pain, bloating and discomfort, excessive wind and an altered bowel habit.
Until recent times there has been no effective treatment for IBS and many sufferers find that it has a disrupting and even devastating effect on their lives.
“I was sceptical in the beginning, as I have tried so many things over the years, but after just a few weeks I am more than impressed with the results.”
The low FODMAP diet as IBS treatment
The low FODMAP diet is recommended by NICE and is used by the NHS as an effective IBS treatment that provides IBS relief to over 75% of sufferers.
Initially, it involves restricting foods known to be high in FODMAPs. When symptoms improve, as they do for most people, it’s time to begin a programme of reintroductions to find your tolerance level. Once you know which foods trigger your symptoms, you can avoid or limit them and get back to a more normal diet.
Step 1: Free 15-minute phone assessment
In this first step I can assess whether your condition may be something more serious than IBS, and direct you towards getting the relevant tests if necessary.
If we decide to go ahead and work together, we’ll get a date booked in for our first full consultation.
I’ll then send you a food diary and a symptom questionnaire; these should be completed in readiness for your first consultation.
You’ll also receive some low FODMAP books to use produced by King’s College, London.
Or book your initial call here.
Step 2: Your first consultation
During your first consultation we’ll go over your symptom questionnaire and food diary, as well as the books you’ve received in the post.
I’ll use these to provide personalised advice on how to start the low FODMAP diet and fit these changes into your lifestyle.
After this consultation, you’ll send me an update every two weeks and I’ll be available to answer questions if necessary.
The 2-weekly updates should give me an indication of the best time to schedule the second consultation. For most people this is about 4-6 weeks after the first assessment.
Step 3: Your second consultation
Just before the second consultation, you’ll complete another symptom questionnaire, so that we can compare the results with your symptoms before you started the diet.
We’ll then discuss your tailored plan for the second phase of the low FODMAP diet – the reintroduction phase.
This is where you’ll start to reintroduce FODMAPs back into your diet, which will enable you to identify your IBS triggers.
You’ll be sent another book to help with the reintroduction phase.
Step 4: Food challenges
Over the next few weeks you’ll start to bring more variation into your diet, by including higher FODMAP foods. I’ll be there to support you along the way. During a third consultation we’ll discuss getting back to a more normal diet and how you can interpret your results.
Most people find that 80% of the foods they’ve been cutting out don’t cause IBS symptoms. Out of the 20% that do, it’s easy then to work out how much of them you can tolerate.
At this point, most of my clients feel completely prepared to go it alone and able to manage their diet independently.
However, if you felt you needed further support, I’ll be here for a fourth consultation if you want to check you’re on the right track and help you incorporate changes into your diet and lifestyle.
IBS Treatment with Debra
I’ve helped so many IBS sufferers and here’s an extract from a recent review:
“I have just finished the elimination phase of the low FODMAP diet. I have been symptom free for weeks now. I have suffered with intolerances now for many, many years. Debra makes all this pain go away. Her process and explanations are a doddle to follow. Debra sends booklets for each phase which are produced by NHS experts. If you have IBS issues, talk to Debra. Simple.”
So, if you have IBS, I can help you too.
